NHL best bets today (Avalanche will dominate Ducks)

We only have two NHL games to watch and bet on Easter Sunday, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to take the night off.

In fact, I have a pick locked in for each of the two games.

Let’s dive into them.

NHL best bets for Easter Sunday

  • Bruins/Flyers OVER 5.5 (-132)
  • Avalanche -1.5 (-125)

Bruins/Flyers OVER 5.5 (-132)

Felix Sandstrom gets the start in net for the Flyers tonight, and he has had a forgettable 2022-23 campaign. He enters tonight with a .881 save percentage on the season, including a .781 save percentage in his two starts this month.

It doesn’t help that the Flyers are 23rd in expected goals against over their last 10 games.

Meanwhile, the Flyers may get some offensive help tonight due to the Bruins going with their backup goaltender, Jeremy Swayman. He’s had a strong season, but he’s still no Linus Ullmark.

With the total at 5.5, there are enough signs pointing to the OVER for me to take a shot on it.

Avalanche -1.5 (-125) vs. Ducks

The Colorado Avalanche still have plenty to play for as they’re trying to secure the top spot in the Central Division, and they should be licking their chops at tonight’s mismatch of a game.

The Ducks have been terrible this season and even worse as of late. Over their last 10 games, they have an average goal differential of -2.58 per 60 minutes of play, which is beyond abysmal.

By comparison, the Avs average goal differential is +1.48 over that same time frame.

There’s nothing the numbers show that make me think the Ducks can hang in this game. I’ll back Colorado to win with margin on Sunday night.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
