DFS Fantasy Hockey Forwards to Start

Mikko Rantanen (COL) @ FLA

Through six games played in 2019-20, Mikko Rantanen has produced 10 points in that span which ties him for seventh with David Pastrnak , Mark Stone , and Jack Eichel . The Colorado Avalanche and Mikko Rantanen have gotten off to a raging hot start this season with the amount of goals produced in such a small time frame (24-fifth in the West).

The Avs will head to the Sunshine State to take on Sergei Bobrovsky and the Florida Panthers this Friday night. So far, the newly acquired Russian netminder has not looked too sharp as he currently possesses a 3.90 GAA in five starts. Rantanen looks to be in line for another big evening on the rink as the Avalanche seek to earn their sixth win of the season.

Jake Guentzel (PIT) vs. DAL

Aside from fellow teammate Sidney Crosby , Guentzel is another Pittsburgh Penguins forward who has looked really good coming out of the gate this season. He’s averaging a point per game and owns a plus-two rating during this stretch as well.

Guentzel appears to be excelling on the top line with Crosby which is very reassuring for Penguins fans. With the loss of Phil Kessel heading off to Arizona in the off-season, Pittsburgh is in need for a suitable replacement.

With the way Guentzel has been playing lately, he could very well be the answer. Keep in mind, the Penguins will be welcoming to town the Dallas Stars who have been having a hard time preventing goal scorers from being successful towards them. Expect Guentzel to find his way on the score sheet once again.

Anthony Mantha (DET) @ EDM

In just six games played, Mantha has produced six goals, along with three assists for the Detroit Red Wings. Mantha seems like he is going to be a rising star in the NHL with how well he has been playing in the early stages of this season.

Detroit has taken a step forward with how they’ve improved performance-wise on the ice, but now they will take on an Edmonton Oilers team who possesses the best record in hockey at the moment.

Despite all that, Edmonton is a middle of the road defense, allowing on average 2.71 goals per game to opposing teams. Mantha is leading the team in both points and goals scored, so it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise if his name is called out at least once in this game at Rogers Place arena Friday night.

Mikko Rantanen has produced 10 points in that span which ties him for seventh with <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/26097/david-pastrnak">David Pastrnak, <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/24990/mark-stone">Mark Stone, and <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/26414/jack-eichel">Jack Eichel. (Photo by Maddie Meyer/Getty Images)

DFS Fantasy Hockey: Defensemen to Start

Dougie Hamilton (CAR) @ ANA

Since the start of the 2019-20 regular season, <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/25195/dougie-hamilton">Hamilton has the best plus-minus rating among active defensemen in the NHL. The Carolina Hurricanes have gotten off to a great start to their season and the acquisition of <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.fantasypros.com/nhl/news/dougie-hamilton.php">Hamilton from the Calgary Flames is one of the biggest contributing factors.

While the Anaheim Ducks have looked like quite an improved squad from just a season ago, it’s still very early in the year and they don’t have any big goalscorers that truly stand out to me just yet. Hamilton should have another solid night at the blueline for the Hurricanes as they try to maintain the top slot in the Eastern Conference.

Jacob Trouba (NYR) @ WSH

The New York Rangers had a huge hole to fill at defense after losing a large portion of key players from their Stanley Cup playoff runs in years past. New York was granted a gift when the Winnipeg Jets were willing to part ways with <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/25495/jacob-trouba">Jacob Trouba in exchange for <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/27061/neal-pionk">Neal Pionk and a 2019 first round draft pick.

Man what a great deal for New York! It’s surely paying off in just the three games that <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.fantasypros.com/nhl/news/jacob-trouba.php">Trouba has played in. In this small span of time, he has scored a goal, dished out three assists, and currently possesses a plus-one rating. While it is still very early to determine Trouba’s fortunes in Broadway, it’s certainly an encouraging sign to say the least.

Duncan Keith (CHI) vs. CBJ

The three-time Stanley Cup Champion still has what it takes to be an effective defenseman in the NHL even at this stage of his career. While he may not be the dominant force he once was from several years back, he can still create problems for opposing forwards when necessary with his physical style of play.

A fan-favorite in the Windy City, <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/23344/duncan-keith">Keith remains on the top defensive pairing with <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/25206/connor-murphy">Connor Murphy as well as the second power play unit. He’s produced a pair of points in four games played while also keeping in tact a plus-three rating in the process.

Now the Blackhawks will host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday, who are towards the bottom of the league in goals scored after losing a lot key pieces to their offense in the off-season. <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.fantasypros.com/nhl/news/duncan-keith.php">Keith is a solid defensive option to turn to for Friday’s slate of games.

<a class="next-slide-btn" style="background: #25373e" data-track="shortcode" data-track-action="next-slide-shortcode" href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"#"> Next: Goalies to Start
<!—pageview_candidate—>

<img class="wp-image-1544455 size-full" src=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/fetch/c_fill,g_auto,f_auto,h_1144,w_1600/https%3A%2F%2Ffansided.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fgetty-images%2F2018%2F08%2F1052122412.jpeg" alt="DFS Fantasy Hockey" width="1600" height="1144" srcset="https://fansided.com/wp-content/uploads/getty-images/2018/08/1052122412.jpeg 1600w, https://fansided.com/wp-content/uploads/getty-images/2018/08/1052122412-768x549.jpeg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" />

DFS Fantasy Hockey: DALLAS, TX – OCTOBER 13: John Gibson #36 of the Anaheim Ducks at American Airlines Center on October 13, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

DFS Fantasy Hockey: Goalies to Start

John Gibson (ANA) vs. CAR

Gibson has been playing like one of the best goalies in the NHL during this brief stretch of games of the season. As of right now, <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/25232/john-gibson">Gibson has a 4-2-0 record with a 0.941 SV% and 1.85 GAA with the Anaheim Ducks.

He’s one of the biggest reasons why the Ducks have such a low goals against average for the season. With other big name goalies like <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/24235/ben-bishop">Ben Bishop and <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/24758/sergei-bobrovsky">Sergei Bobrovsky not playing up to expectations, <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.fantasypros.com/nhl/news/john-gibson.php">Gibson is not a bad consolation option to go to at this time. Consider starting him during Friday night’s action against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Philipp Grubauer (COL) @ FLA

Despite having to play against one of the higher scoring offenses in the Eastern Conference, <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/24938/philipp-grubauer">Grubauer still remains as a strong goaltending option for Friday. Since taking over the starting position for the Avalanche last season, <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.fantasypros.com/nhl/news/philipp-grubauer.php">Grubauer has been a solid rock between the pipes.

His great level of play from last season has now carried over to this year as he has a 0.922 SV% and a 2.57 GAA. Do not be frightened with how well the Panthers have played on offense this year. <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/g/grubaph01.html" ref="nofollow">Grubauer is playing like an elite goalie and can match up well against pretty much any offense coming his way at this time.

Matt Murray (PIT) vs. DAL

The Dallas Stars have got some serious issues going on with their offense at the moment. They are struggling to find the back of the net even with some pretty big names on their roster. While Dallas may be a sleeping giant just ready to erupt at any moment, I think <a href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://www.rotoworld.com/hockey/nhl/player/25580/matt-murray">Matt Murray and the Penguins will be safe heading into Friday’s match-up.

<a class="story-link-next-btn" style="background: #25373e" data-track="shortcode" data-track-action="story-link-next-shortcode" href=https://fansided.com/2019/10/18/friday-dfs-fantasy-hockey-advice/"https://fansided.com/2019/10/17/dfs-advice-week-7-start-sit/"> Next: DFS advice: Week 7 fantasy football start or sit

Murray has been good for Pittsburgh going 4-2-0 with a 0.914 SV% and 2.66 GAA. If you are looking for some quality goaltending for Friday’s slate of games, why not rely on a two-time Stanley Cup Champion to get the job done?
<!—pageview_candidate—>">
