The Fenway Bowl has turned into one of the most intriguing ones of this Bowl Season, but not for what's going to happen on the field.

Louisville's Scott Satterfield took the vacant Cincinnati job ahead of this bowl being announced, making for a matchup between the head coaches former and current team. On the field, there are several key opt outs that are driving uncertainty in this game, most notably Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham.

How should we process all this knowledge and make a valuable bet? First, let's see the odds:

Cincinnati vs. Louisville Odds, Spread and Total

Cincinnati vs. Louisville Betting Trends

  • Cincinnati went 3-9 against the spread (ATS) this season
  • Cincinnati went 0-3 ATS as an underdog this season
  • Louisville went 7-5 ATS this season, 4-2 as a favorite
  • Louisville went UNDER in four of 12 games this season, five of six as a favorite

Cincinnati vs. Louisville Prediction and Pick

There's a lot of uncertainty about this game with Cunningham out as well, turning the reigns over to backup Brock Domann, as the Bearcats likely sticking with their freshman quarterback Evan Prater. With that in mind, I'm going to look to the under as both defensive lines should dominate in this game.

Both teams have elite pass rushes, each checking inside the top five in sacks and both teams are elite at stopping the run. With a pair of unproven quarterbacks taking over, I expect the defense to have the leg up and limit the scoring in this game.

The total has been bet down since open due in part to the opt outs on both sides of the ball, but also the weather. There is rain in the forecast on Saturday in the Boston area as well as winds of north of 15 miles per hour.

I don't see much difference between the teams, but I do expect this one to be a rock fight, so even with a total in the low 40's, I'll go under.
